KANSAS CITY, MO – December 30, 2016 – KC Prodigy is a not-for-profit, federally designated “501(c)(3)” organization serving the Kansas City Metro areas (of KS & MO), focusing on building a stronger community of young scholar-athletes. They manage an extensive youth program for boys and girls, which promotes the academic, physical, social, psychological and total development of the scholar-athlete.
Recently, with KC Prodigy’s growing roster of talent, the athletic directors started re-structuring their overall program to provide a wider range of services to their scholar-athletes. The positive feedback they have received from parents indicates that they are excited with the “value” of what they provide as a whole. They have also introduced new training programs geared towards further developing the players, but introducing guidance in personal health, good nutritional habits, personal financial management and more – setting them up for success as they move on to college and eventually a lifelong career.
“2017 will be an exciting year for us,” said KC Prodigy Co-Athletic Director, Samuel Johnson. “We are blessed to have a full roster of talented, motivated and disciplined youth leading the charge this season.” Mr. Johnson brings with him 13 years of experience as the Head Coach of Women’s Basketball for the Kansas City Public School District. He has also spent many years developing athletic programs and has been successful with building highly skilled, diverse and multi-cultural teams. His own children are very talented players, and part of the reason he started coaching was to ensure that his children were being properly developed in all faucets of life. This particular value was how he and his Co-Athletic Director, Dana Copeland connected. Dana also has daughters who are talented on the basketball court, so they both were able to see “eye-to-eye” – simply as fathers protecting their children’s futures.
KC Prodigy spent considerable time conducting research for a reputable webmaster to properly showcase and support their scholar-athletes’ accomplishments both inside the classroom and on the basketball court. After careful review, the athletic directors of KC Prodigy selected Bad Banana Software LLC, to lead their web and marketing initiatives. “I’m very pleased that KC Prodigy selected Bad Banana to be their vendor of choice to help make their project a success,” said founder and Head Banana, Brian G. Moss, Sr. “In a sense, this project is near and dear to me as I have young teenagers of my own that are very active in sports, so I am keenly aware of the need for solid, youth oriented programs that help them grow and mature, not only athletically, but as fine young adults.”
When asked about the direction of KC Prodigy in 2017, Co-Athletic Director, Dana Copeland commented that “We are all extremely excited for the direction that KC Prodigy is headed in, especially now that we are sponsored by Under Armour through their Premier Team Network Grassroots Program.” This sponsorship has been near and dear to both Athletic Directors’ hearts for some time now. Dana added that “With our club now having the opportunity to compete with the best talent from around the country, we can truly show everyone what we are made of.” He further commented that “Our scholar-athletes are already successful in their own right; they have become leaders to their fellow teammates and leaders to their peers in the community. That is something that we all can be proud of, and it feels good to hear these things from the parents because it further validates the work we are doing with our program.”
